Concept: contextual geological history

Specifications: timber structural system

Idaho Forest Products Commission project– The building form comes from the geological history of the region. Glaciers, the “formal” representation of wind and water, and the Palouse hills themselves are represented in the undulating body of the building. The building seeks to reveal the past of the Palouse through its conceptual facade, and the future of the Palouse in its innovative structural use of timber products.

TAKEAWAY

The most successful aspects of the project is the dual nature of the structure– acting as structure and baggage storage.

The project would have benefited from further development of landscaping and interior / exterior integration.
